APLI Participated in the Third Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (November 29-December 3, 1999; Seattle, Washington)

The APLI is formally recognized as a non-government organization by the World Trade Organization and was invited to participate in and observe the WTO's Third Ministerial Conference in Seattle.  Our focus is to monitor the progress on international compliance efforts concerning the TRIPs Agreement, latest developments on the possible amendments or enhancement to that agreement, and the status of dispute settlement process. Although the conference was side tracked by the street protests and issues concerning agriculture subsidy, labor and environmental protection, the very participation of the event proves to be a rewarding experiences to the APLI delegates.  APLI will continue these tasks and follow the developments from various international organizations such as the WTO and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
