Project Han-Fei Takes Shape: 100 Major Patent Cases and Commentaries Now Available in Chinese

As part of its on-going Project Han-Fei, the Asia Pacific Legal Institute is in collaboration with the Graduate Institute of Technology and Innovation Management and later the Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property of the National Chengchi University, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, and with the sponsorship of the Intellectual Property Office in Taiwan to translate into Chinese and comment on 82 landmark patent cases from the United States, European Union (especially the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands), and Japan since 1980.  In addition, the Project selected and commented on 18 patent cases from the People's Republic of China.  The compilation of these cases now forms the most comprehensive and updated collection of critical cases that help shape the development of modern digital and biotechnology.  This collection is particularly useful for those who are interested in the research and studies of comparative patent policies.

Since 1999, the Project has completed the translation and commentaries of trademark, copyright, trade secrets cases as well as several cases update in each of the above categories.  The combination of these databases will, hopefully, form an integral part of the basic teaching materials for the Chinese spoken communities to be in connection with the development of international intellectual property arena and also engage in dialogue in the on-going harmonization endeavor in the field.
