Founded in 1994, the Asia Pacific Intellectual Property Association has
been actively engaged in activities for the better protection of intellectual
property rights in Taiwan. In collaboration with the Intellectual
Property Office (formerly National Bureau of Standards), it has also
constructed a comprehensive patent database that covers all of Taiwan's
patents since 1950. The site used to also have an extensive database on
the patents of the People's Republic of China, but that service has been
suspended. No announcement yet on when this service will resume.
Executive

Under the management of Government
Information Office, this is the database and search engine for all
of the published Official Gazette of the Executive Yuan, the official
publication of the Cabinet.
Fair
Trade Commission (in English and traditional Chinese characters/BIG5
code)
Since its inception in 1991, the Fair Trade Commission has actively promulgated
rules and adjudicated disputes, many concerning trade dress and famous
marks.

driving force behind the island's high-tech revolution, the Industrial
Technology Research Institute is putting more emphasis on intellectual
property and technology licensing. As a result, this site often provides
good leads to the latest activities related to the field.

of Technology and Innovation Management, National
Chengchi University

One of the most active graduate programs in Taiwan. It houses the translated
and commented patent
cases database and many other research papers in intellectual property,
intellectual assets management and technology transfer. The Center for
Science and Technology Policy and Law is also located here.

Property Office, Ministry of Economic
Affairs

The official site of the now consolidated and unified Intellectual Property
Office. The site contains the full text of Manual of Patent Examination
Procedure, forms, statutes, and many other resources concerning patents,
trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, integrated circuits, and anti-counterfeiting
programs.

Judicial Yuan (in traditional Chinese characters/BIG5 code)
The official site of the highest judicial authority. This cite also contains
one of the most comprehensive legal search engines for statutes, regulations,
and cases. A gateway to other courts of Taiwan.
Ministry

The official site of the Ministry of Justice. It also contains a comprehensive
legal search engine, statistics, and links to other legal databases.
The
Legislative Yuan (in English and traditional Chinese characters/BIG5

Here is the location to access the latest parliamentary developments in
Taiwan, including information on the floor debates.
National
Central Library (in English and traditional Chinese characters/BIG5
code)
This is the official site for the national library. A vast amount of information
can be found from their newly consolidated single database. However, given
the site's popularity, sometimes it may take a longer loading and downloading
time.
National
Information Infrastructure (in English and traditional Chinese characters/BIG5
code)
The government site for the construction of Taiwan's information super-highway.
The site has useful information concerning the development of electronic
commerce in Taiwan.
Science
and Technology Center, Institute for Information Industry
(in English and traditional Chinese characters/BIG5 code)
The "Triple Is," as it is commonly known, is a semi-governmental
agency formed to assist the development of Taiwan's information industry.
This site has an extensive collection of information on intellectual property
rights, electronic commerce, conferences and training programs. It also
hosts an Intellectual
Property Web Site for the Asian-Oceanian
Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO).

Now an affiliate with the Chinese National
Federation of Industries (CNFI), Root Publishing Co. has accumulated
a large legal database since its beginning. A very good alternative to
the governmental sites to search for statutes, regulations, cases and
some of the latest developments. CNFI is one of the largest trade associations
in Taiwan who, along with the Institute for Information Industry, is authorized
by the government to assist certain aspects in the enforcement of intellectual
property rights.
